TOWN OF MILLET UPDATE
Taxes
A friendly reminder that property taxes are due today, July 15th. All accounts in arrears will receive an 8% penalty tomorrow morning. Please keep in mind that online banking can take up to 48 hours to go through. The office is open until 4 pm and there is an after-hours drop box at the front door as well.
Splash park
As many are aware, our pump shack at the Splash park was destroyed by fire last Fall. This is currently being rebuilt by insurance. Due to supply issues with parts, which are out of our control, the park will remain closed until all repairs can be completed. We will advise when it is open.
Traffic Lights
The Town is still waiting for CPKC to complete the synchronization of the railway lights. The last update we received, they hoped to have this completed by Friday, July 18th. Once the Town has confirmation, we will advise the public.
Skateboard Park and Civic Center Park Upgrades
Millet Friends of the Youth have started construction of the new skateboard park in the old tennis courts. The Town’s upgrades to the park, which include a new 12X24 gazebo, outdoor exercise equipment, sidewalks, cement pad and overall playground upgrades, are also underway. Construction is set to be completed by the end of July, a grand opening will be held on August 9th.
Annual Road Repairs
Annual road repairs are scheduled to commence next week. 43 Avenue (Kalmac) is scheduled for a complete reconstruction, as well as miscellaneous repairs around town. This is set to be completed by the end of July.
