Millet is a close-knit community with all amenities included. Called a "bedroom" community, Millet is a pleasant, quiet, get-away-from-it-all, kind of place.
There is a Fresh Market grocery store, two gas bars, a laundromat, three hair salons, a day spa, a car wash, a newspaper, a local library, a museum and pretty much everything you need, right here in town! Just a few kilometers outside of Millet we have Triple Creek Golf Club and Pipestone Links Golf Course. No need to go anywhere else if golfing is your sport of choice. Along side of golf, baseball and soccer are great spectator sports in the summer, and winter brings hockey teams from all over Alberta to our arena.
If shopping is your 'thing', Millet has many unique shops, such as Butterfly Boutique & Gifts, Kilborn Antiques, This That & Everything and many more!! You can also go north or south 15km and find shopping of all kinds in Leduc or Wetaskiwin. If you like the big city type of shopping, another 20 minutes and you're in Edmonton or Camrose. You can't beat that!
In the summertime, you can go to the beaches on Pigeon Lake about 30 minutes away, dependant on which one you go to. Or there's Wizard Lake, in the County of Leduc, about the same distance away. But best of all, you get to come home to Millet, a town that greets you with a summer theme of Communities in Bloom!
New to Millet - Annexation 2018
What is Annexation?
Annexation is a municipal boundary change to expand for future growth. In Alberta, annexations are regulated by the Municipal Government Board. The annexation process involves negotiations between local governments, public engagement with property owners, a formal review by the Municipal Government Board, and ultimately a decision by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. This is not taking or changing the ownership of this land; it is just a change in jurisdiction. Annexation does not mean that the lands will necessarily be immediately developed.
The Town of Millet submitted an annexation application to the Municipal Government Board (MGB) December 2016, to annex land from the County of Wetaskiwin to allow for future growth and expand the industrial land inventory within Millet. After careful examination of all submissions, from the Town of Millet, County of Wetaskiwin No. 10, affected landowners, and other interested parties, the Municipal Government Board (MGB) approved the annexation effective January 1, 2018.
