Utility Capital Charge
December 13 2020Council was able to waive any increases in the water rates this year, which do increase annually through the water commission. They did however have to add a $5/month capital reserve charge for water and a $5/month capital reserve charge for sewer . This money goes towards the underground infrastructure to ensure we are not in a position in the future to be unable to update or repair any infrastructure that may fail.
Having reserves for these capital costs prevent the town from having to borrow funds in the future to ensure our infrastructure remains operational.
