State of Local Emergency Lifted and Garage Sales Permitted

June 25 2020
Please be advised that at their Regular Council Meeting of June 24th, 2020, Council resolved to rescind the Town of Millet’s State of Local Emergency (SOLE). It is important to note that COVID-19 will remain a risk in the Town of Millet for the foreseeable future, and our community will need to continue its efforts to protect at-risk groups. The ending of our SOLE is NOT a return to how we lived prior to the Pandemic. Public health measures must remain a part of our everyday lives. Observe two meters of physical distancing, and we strongly encourage the use of non-medical face masks in congested areas. Remember to wash your hands regularly and stay home if you are sick.

Council also resolved to remove the ban on garage sales in the Town of Millet, providing the following regulations are followed:
  • Organizers MUST follow all Provincial Health Orders and recommendations from Alberta Health Services such as adherence with provincial guidance that proper physical distancing be maintained (6 feet or 2 metres), masks be worn if physical distancing is not possible, and that provincial capacity restrictions be followed.
Please remember that there is still a risk of infection of the COVID-19 virus, and residents are urged to practice caution and take appropriate measures to minimize their risk of exposure in public settings. Further, those holding garage sales are encouraged to follow the recommendations of Alberta Health Services and the Province of Alberta and sanitize those surfaces/items that are frequently touched.

The Town of Millet will continue to monitor any changes in regulations from Alberta Health Services and ensure any changes are posted immediately.
