MILLET GETS ELECTRIC ZAMBONI

May 11 2021

The Town of Millet is excited to unveil their new fully electric Zamboni Ice Resurfacer that will be put into service during the next ice season. With the assistance of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program, the town was able to purchase and switch out their aging gas powered ice resurfacer.

“Switching to an electric vehicle allows the reduction in environmental impacts and increases the safety of not only our staff but the public we serve”, says Councilor Brooks. Trina Innes, Executive Director at the Action Centre added, “Electrifying an ice re-surfacer is a sizeable step towards creating a sustainable community. The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre is happy to see municipalities like the Town of Millet taking advantage of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program.”

With the new machine comes an electrical charging station specifically designed for the Zamboni which will allow significant cost savings each year in fuel as well as maintenance for the Zamboni.

Town council would like to thank the MCCAC for their support and helping us reduce carbon emissions in our Arena.

The previous Olympia Ice Resurfacer was sold to the manufacture for resale.
