MESSAGE FROM OUR MAYOR

July 13 2020
Message from the Mayor

The Town Administration office re-opens on July 13, 2020, so let’s hope that all Millet residents can begin to look towards a full return to “normal life” happening sooner rather than later. Millet has indeed been fortunate to have been spared any cases of the coronavirus infiltrating into our community so far, and for this we are very thankful. As we move forward in the weeks and months ahead, we should all stay mindful of the need to continue practicing our new “social distancing” behaviours. We are not “out of the woods” yet, but we have certainly made a great start in beating this pandemic! I would like to say “Thank You” to all of you for doing your part in making this possible.

I must also especially note the wonderful job that our CAO, Lisa Schoening, and her staff have done in keeping the Town functioning during the pandemic. For the past 4 months, each of them continued working from their homes, making many personal sacrifices and adjustments in their lives to take care of their duties for the Town and our residents. It has not been easy for them, and some have had to deal directly with the added frustrations of our residents dealing with this unprecedented time for all of us.

With the re-launch in process, please remember that our staff are there to answer your questions and help you resolve your concerns. If you do not get the answer you need, please ask the staff member to refer your concern to their superior or our CAO. Our Town has a strict policy against harassment and bullying towards Town employees. As well, Alberta Health Services have regulations against verbal abuse towards any public staff . Yelling, and degrading staff, are things that cannot be tolerated, and staff have been advised that if they become victim to this type pf behavior, they are to hang up the phone or walk away. We understand times are hard right now and we understand some are very frustrated, but aggressive behavior will not be tolerated toward any member of staff or volunteers. Please allow staff a chance to find your answers in a calm manner and remember, we are all in this together so above all, we need to be kind.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our residents that if you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to the Town office. The Town also has a Policy to investigate and answer every complaint or concern. All contact information is available on our website at www.millet.ca/contacts. The Town of Millet does not have a Facebook account and any complaints, questions or concerns posted on any social media accounts cannot be considered as an official complaint or request.
