FIRE PIT INSPECTION

NEED A FIRE PIT PERMIT?
If you have not yet had your fire pit inspected, please note that a back-yard fire pit requires:
*The owner or occupant of the property shall possess an open air fire permit;
*Shall be constructed of non-combustible materials;
*Shall be covered by a spark arrestor mesh or grate with openings not to exceed 1.3 centimeters (1/2 inch) in any dimension;
*Shall not be located closer than 3 meters (10 feet) from a property line and any combustible material including but not limited to, buildings, structures, fences, trees and patio decks;
*Shall not be located less than 1 meter (3 feet) laterally and 5 meters (16 feet) vertically from an overhead utility line;
*Does not exceed 46 centimeters (18 inches) in height; and,
*Does not exceed 1 meter (39 inches) in diameter.

If you would like your pit inspected, please send your name, address and phone number to utilities@millet.ca or call 780-387-4554. You will then be contacted by a member of the Millet Fire Department.  Once a date and time has been selected for inspection, please ensure you remain in your home while the member comes on-site for the inspection. They will contact you via phone with the results of your inspection.
