COUGAR SPOTTING NEAR MILLET

July 10 2020
COUGAR SPOTTING
The Town of Millet has received several calls regarding the news of a cougar spotting near Millet last weekend. We have contacted Fish & Wildlife and they have advised that there NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC! They stated that cougars tend to continue to roam after finding a food source and do not stay in one area for very long. They did monitor and there have been no further sightings since.
They did ask that we remind residents that cougars are more scared of humans than we are of them. If you are walking your dogs PLEASE ENSURE THEY ARE ON A LEASH, a cougar will not approach a human but they may feel intimidated by a dog, as long as the dog is on a leash they will be intimidated by the human and not approach.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Alberta Fish & Wildlife at 780-427-4943.
