My parents were farmers near Buchanan, Saskatchewan where I grew up and went to school along with my older sister and younger brother. For my first three years of school I attended a farm school called Gravel Hill then was bussed to Buchanan were I graduated in 1974. After graduating, I along with my fiancée Lorne moved to Edmonton to get a taste of the big city and the booming oil industry. In 1975 we were married. With Lorne’s employer moving into the newly developed Nisku Industrial Park and a brand new baby we decided it was time to purchase our first home. Looking for the safety of a small community to raise our family with easy accessibility to the city and our place of work, Millet became our new home in January of 1978. In 1981, along with a partner we decided to purchase a manufacturing welding shop in the Nisku Industrial Park only to witness the fall of the oil industry. In order to survive we diversified and started a sandblasting and painting division. Out growing our shop we purchased a larger shop were today we continue to operate our business. With the strong oil economy returning and the demands of more drilling rigs we once again strictly became a manufacturing welding shop. We have a family of three boys Courtney, Nathan and Jonathan who attended school in Millet and Wetaskiwin. They were all very active playing hockey, ball and spending many hours golfing which was their passion. Today our three sons are married living in Edmonton and we have one Grandson Owen, with whom we love spending as much time as possible. I enjoy golfing, camping, traveling and sitting on the beach watching the sunset. The special part of my life is spending time and vacationing with all our children and their families. I also enjoy reading a good novel in my spare time and my newly found passion is acrylic painting.
